How to choose the right golf glove size?
When which golf gloves you want to buy, there are several things to consider including type, brand, and design. However, the most important aspect to a golf glove, as with most other pieces of equipment, is how it fits you. Even if you have the best glove on the market, if it doesn’t fit you right it won’t perform the way you want it to. So, how do you determine what size golf glove you should buy?
Find the perfect golf gloves fit
When buying a golf glove, the fit you should be looking for is snug, with no space after the tips of your fingers, but not too tight. Overly tight golf gloves can restrict movement, or even cause fingers to go numb, reducing your feel on your clubs. A good way to test if a glove is too tight is to try to make a fist with the glove on. If you’re unable to fully close your hand, it’s too small.
Alternatively, gloves that fit too loosely will slide around on your hands, causing your grip to move during your swing. This will increase the variation in your shots, and could lead to extremely sub-optimal shot placement and consistency.
How to know your golf glove size?
Golf gloves come in standard sizes, and some brands offer custom sizing. Golf Glove sizes are divided into two categories, regular and youth. For sizing, start by measuring the length between the bottom of your palm and the tip of your middle finger. If your measurement is under 7 inches, you’re probably going to fit into a youth sized glove, which measure between 6.25 and 7 inches. Standard golf gloves range from about 8 to to 10.5 inches for men, and 7 to 8.5 inches for women. They usually come in 6 to 7 different sizes: small, medium, large, XL, XXL, XXL, XXXL, and occasionally XXXXL. It’s also worth noting that if you have particularly wide or narrow fingers, you may want to go up or down a size if the measurements are close. You can also see Invictus’ sizing chart below for sizing measurements.
Pro Tip: golf gloves may shrink in the wash, so if you’re choosing between two sizes, the larger one is the safer bet.
The difference a well-fitted glove can make can’t be overstated, it can truly revolutionize your game. Once you have the right type of gloves that fit perfectly, you’ll be ready to maximize your potential on every shot.
